It’s our fault we waited this long to have a Surviving R-Kelly.

Let's be honest, who can deny R Kelly’s talent. As soon as his music comes on, I just forget all the cruelty he has done. Regardless of his alleged sex tape with a minor, we seem to give him a pass. I would not admit to it because I was a huge fan. How is it that he keeps getting away with this activity? With all these alleged victims and people of his entourage that are speaking against him, his time must be up. But, how long will it take for him to be in jail?
Part of the reason is that we do not make R Kelly be held accountable for his actions. When you look around, every song he makes ends up in a cookout, house party or the bedroom. Since he is populated within the black community, he is pushed on to this high pedestal where we let him do whatever he wants. Which causes friction on how a black woman is supposed to be treated. It is unfair to some because it has led there experiences be unheard and their needs put to the very last. We already deal with a culture where degrading black women is normalized.
Based on these images in Cardi B and City girls music video called Twerk, we find it OK to treat them as sex objects to use and abuse. Yes, I love me some ratchet music. But I do feel we need to draw the line on what's appropriate or inappropriate. That type of content leads men into that disgusting behavior R Kelly has groomed to have today. Since R Kelly's large fan base is black women, it makes the situation even worse. Most women who are fans of his music are being brainwashed to think nothing of it. With him being a massive sex symbol, you can tell he is their secret lover in their heads.
Since he is a famous black man, they use racism as an excuse. While trying to cover up the insanity behind his crime. But how come it is always like that? Every famous black person who has done something, clearly get a pass because of using the race card. Michael Jackson was known for touching little boys but gets the pass for not only his race but his status as a celebrity. I am going to be blunt.
People in society can't separate well-known entertainers from their work versus them as a human being. If they do that, it takes them up to 20 to 30 years later. I have to admit, there is some artist that I used to feel that could do no wrong. Like this other singer named Trey Songz. Man, if you said one thing about him, you would be done. But as I start to look deep within the situation, I can even see the problem within myself. We as a culture worship too much over celebrities.
Anywhere you go, you see every aspect of their lives. You get the massive fan base obsessed with their every move by any means necessary. Which drives them into going to every concert and buying their album to fighting any human being who disrespects their favorite musical artist. Can you imagine getting all this hate mail because you don't like Beyonce's formation? That is insane. That is the society we live in today. It is to the point where we can't have our own opinion.
This type of activity drives the musical artist to his great glory. It boosts up his already fulfilled ego while continuing doing actions he can get away with. Which leads us to multiple women speaking up about being physically and verbally abused by R Kelly. You see where I am going with this? The more you create an environment where a celebrity can do no wrong, the more they will test to see what else they can get away with.
Put yourself in his position for a second. If you had all the money and talent in the world, wouldn’t you take advantage of what you can control? Many years R Kelly has been in this industry. The more you’ve seen his career rise, the more power he has gotten. Why did you think it took his entire entourage and victims to speak this long on their sins with R Kelly? With his connections, he has an advantage. With the dreams the entourage and victims have, they will do anything to get on his good side.
Especially the victims, they see a public figure and immediately think its a come up. Even though they are in an abusive relationship, they still will put up with it just for the benefits. That makes them a part of the problem. They expect unrealistic expectations but barely use their common sense. Don't we have self-worth? If we do not stand by how much we're worth, an artist like R Kelly will take advantage. We need to start judging our public figures wisely because we do not know the content of their character.
